This website contains data about historic parking utilisation at RingGo managed parking sites. Data archiving is possible from 19th August 2016 onwards. Data is usually updated between 25 to 40 minutes after the last update.
While trying to park and getting frustrated at the extra "Convenience Fee" and SMS "default opt in" charges.. I decided I would like to see if the charges match the demand for parking.
It didn't take me long to take the public data and make it searchable. In my area and for the short period I've been monitoring - the convenience fee doesn't match the demand for parking. Also some areas charge 20+ pence per reminder text where as other locations charge as little as 10 pence. This data interests me.
How does it work?
Simply type in a keyword like "Diss" or "South West Trains" into the box below and click submit. You will be shown a list of carparks that match the search (up to a maximum of 100 results).
Then click a car park to see the historic capacity information for that day. You can then alter the date and see previous or historic capacity for other days using the box at the top of the historic data page.
Search for a parking location or operator:
Something isn't right!
Some data returned by RingGo is wrong. Examples are Ash Vale Station which always shows 40%+ occupancy almost all the time. Other odd things are carparks getting stuck at a certain capacity in the evening and then not showing as empty until 7 or 8am in the morning. I presume these carparks stop reporting capacity data over night to save on data usage. Some carparks showing no capacity usage at all, every day, all day. I presume these car parks don't have communications back to RingGo.
I don't know where to start!
If you can't think of a car park to search for above - try looking at some of the car parks run by specific operators or councils below:
